Eighty years ago Vimto was introduced to the gulf, it was an immediate success. The recipe was then tweaked to include date paste, and the commonality of date flavouring really cemented Vimto as the drink of choice at every iftar table.

Salwa Palace was built in distinctive Najdi architectural style. The walls have decorative triangular windows designed to recirculate air and bring natural light into the rooms. The materials used for construction were mud bricks, straw and logs of wood.
